Today I issued a challenge to my family: find an opportunity every day through Christmas to serve someone. It could be as simple as picking up trash off the classroom floor or as grand as doing your sibling's chore for them. We're going to report our service back to the family at dinner each night.
Today I had an interesting service opportunity. UPS rang the doorbell this afternoon. When I answered the door I was greeted not only by the UPS man but also by a huge dog! The delivery man assumed the dog was mine - it was not. The dog was attached to a leash, but there were no tags on it's collar. The dog (aka horse) was a sweet, friendly, young Great Dane/boxer mix. I took her for a walk around the neighborhood asking everyone I saw if they recognized the dog. Unfortunately no one did. I brought her back home and we gave her a bowl of food and a bowl of water. When we had to leave to pick the kids up from school, she barked and chased our car down the street. She was gone by the time we got back home (much to the children's chagrin - they'd been discussing what to name her on the ride home).
So - my first act of service was for a dog!
****Will you join us in our service challenge?****

I am so happy to see you back!!!! I will issue the same challange to my kids!! I think that would be great. I wish you would have answered the door when UPS rang my doorbell yesterday :-( They didn't leave my package because it required a signature. I can't wait to see more pictures from you trip!
