I took the kids to a pool party this evening. It was a birthday party for Peter's best friend William and for another classmate. The kids had a blast.
Here's a picture of Laura and her best friend Wesley (who is William's brother).

Peter is loving the water, even though he's freezing because he doesn't have any fat on his bones to keep him warm.

Amidst all of this joy and fun, I came to the sad conclusion that my camera was dying. I had recharged it before we left for the party, but the camera went from 169 minutes of battery life to none in 20 pictures. Now that I've uploaded the pictures, I've noticed that the picture quality is pretty horrible. A month ago this would not have bothered me. I usually don't take pictures of the kids; Shad does. We got him a nice camera a few years ago. In fact, it's too nice for me to feel comfortable using it, so I don't. But now I have this blog and I want to do better about recording our life in photographs. And so I mourn the loss of my digital camera. We got it right before Peter was born, so it is 7 1/2 years old. (We got our mini-van at about the same time - I hope it doesn't follow my camera's tragic path!) I know all things have to come to an end, but I just wasn't expecting it to happen at the pool!

I'm so glad the death was your camera, and not a child. I've had several deaths in my family within the last couple of years (two in the last 3 months), and so when I read the title of that post, I had a moment of fear. Sorry to hear about your camera, though.
My camera is doing the same thing-and it makes me so mad-because I love photos. If you find a good replacement camera let me know!!
You didn't have to change the title on my account!
