10-Week Dinner Plan

I recently came up with a dinner menu for 10 weeks, with no repeats (except for going out for pizza twice). Some people asked me to post the menu. This was the best I can do. If there are specific recipes you're interested in, let me know. I don't have the time (or the inclination) to post all of the recipes!

The Cell phone vs. the Scriptures

I found this little "article" (not really sure what to call it) at my Church's website mormon.org . I found it thought-provoking. I have recently been trying harder to study, not just read, the Book of Mormon and Bible. I wish I were better about turning to the scriptures when I'm struggling, but at least I'm working on it! Practice makes perfect, right?

I wonder what would happen if we treated our scriptures like we treat our cell phones?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we spent an hour or more using it every day?
What if we used it to receive messages?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to other kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we traveled? What if we used it in case of an emergency?
This is something to make you go...."Hmmm..Dude.. where are my scriptures?"

Unlike our cell phones:
One Plan does fit all.
Unlimited usage. No roaming charges.
You always have reception.
You can use it in the mountains and in a tunnel.
It's free with no hidden costs,
AND you don't ever have to worry your scriptures being disconnected, because CHRIST has already paid the bill!

Thunder and Lightning, Very Very Frightening

We are having quite the rainstorm right now. I'm really glad, because Albuquerque always needs more rain. The street in front of our house is completely flooded, water covering the entire surface of the road from one curb to the opposite curb. For a while, the rain was coming down in sheets. It's too dark outside, so I can't take any photos, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the lightning flashes and the thunder. I love the sound of thunder - I wonder why.

Sadly, not everyone shares in my pleasure. Peter came downstairs to grab some huge headphones (like the kind air traffic controllers wear) so that he could block out the thunder. Hopefully he won't get hearing loss from turning up his iPod loud enough to drown out the thunder.

Off to School

Even though my kids are older,
getting them to cooperate for a group photo is still a chore.

At least Emily was willing to smile.

This year, Peter and Emily are in the same class.
Emily is in 7th grade, and Peter is in 4th.

Laura started 2nd grade today.

Everyone had a good first day!
